At Armor we are dedicated to offering our customers top quality windows. One way to ensure excellent products is to partner with top notch suppliers. We are proud to announce that we have joined forces with Cardinal Glass Industries to offer you insulated glass units that are known on an international scale for their durability and excellent quality.

Armor windows are now equipped with EndurIG™ spacer bars

Armor glass still has the features you’ve come to know and love such as EverClear® and Low-E, and our windows of course continue to have excellent energy ratings, but now our sealed glass units are fitted with the EndurIG™ spacer bar.

Let’s take a moment to review some of the technical terms we just mentioned

EverClear® is a special coating that turns your glass into self-cleaning glass, meaning it ensures that your windows will stay cleaner for much longer. Read our blog about how Self Cleaning Glass works for more information.

Low-E is the abbreviation for low emissivity. Low-E glass has an invisible metallic coating that allows light from the outside to flow into your home, and keeps the heat from inside your home from escaping. Low-E glass essentially boosts energy efficiency.

Sealed glass units are composed of two or three panes of glass (hence the terms double and triple pane windows). Each pane of glass is separated by a sealed air space filled with air or gases with excellent insulating properties like Argon and Krypton.

Spacer bars are bonded to the perimeter of the glass panes in order to create an airtight cavity and thus the sealed unit.

The EndurIG™ spacer from Cardinal

Designed to ensure long-term performance as well as excellent solar control, the Endur IG™ spacer bar from Cardinal Glass Industries is an amazing product. It is a stainless steel, warm-edge spacer that has the lowest failure rate in the industry and provides thermal performance second to none.

Known in the industry as the spacer that lasts

  1. Polyisobutylene (PIB) Primary Seal
Minimizes moisture permeation, is UV resistant and provides an outstanding Argon barrier.
  2. Inorganic Silicone Secondary Seal
Enhanced resistance to moisture, temperature, and UV radiation compared to organic sealants (polysulfide, hot melt butyl, and polyurethane).
  3. Stainless Steel Spacer
The extremely thin 0.0025” corrugated top greatly reduces heat conduction along the top of the spacer, improves performance, and is extremely crush resistant.
  4. Dessicant
High adsorption 3A molecular sieve beads have an increased dessicating capacity versus a lot of the other spacers on the market; higher desiccant capacity leads to longer life.

Long-term performance

  • The Endur IG™ Spacer Bar is designed to last: proven by studies in both field and lab settings
  • P-1 Chamber test shows Cardinal IG units lasting 40 + weeks versus foam spacers sealed with hot melt butyl
  • ASTM E-2190, CEN, EN-1279 durability tests performed by independent labs shows that Cardinal IG units not only pass the tests, but outperform other spacers
